What is it about this cop compulsion to kill dogs -- any dogs?

Cop blows away dog 'for no good reason'

Because they can, and it makes them feel like big men. My Polish friend once pointed out that in Poland there is a thin line between a cop and a criminal. I'm beginning to think it's true in our country too.

Because he can't get away with killing women and kids ,yet. But don't wory soon he'll shoot someone " trying to escape" or the'll be a "suicide" in his back seat. Or maybe just he will walk up and shoot a little kid in the head for fun. Cops are like that. Bullies and cowards.

The family of anyone who'd kill my dog will have the opportunity of going to a closed casket funeral. It's called closure.

Kind of an overbroad statement Phelps. Sociopaths start as children torturing animal then move to adults. This guy is just killing animals as an adult...Big difference.
As for the cop he is just a coward. He got scared by the dog and shot it.. That is what cops are trained to do. When they are a afraid they shoot! They don't think! They Shoot!
Some people are not inherently mean. They just appear mean when they are afraid.

You hurt my dog, I hurt you. Badge or no.

If the owner had kept the dog on a leash, or the gate locked, this would not have happened. It's no excuse for this cowardly cop for shooting the dog however.

I suppose just hitting the dog with mace or pepper spray was out of the question??

The blue army of occupation rolls on.

Why? Dogs don't know their place relative to law enforcement. They don't understand that they are to bow and scrape.

My wife and I volunteer for a local Golden Retriever rescue group, and in the last 12 years, we (as a group) have NEVER taken custody of a dog that was just outright mean or dangerous.

0) Golden retrievers are not generally mean dogs, even after suffering YEARS of abuse.

1) The owners of the dog should be locked up (or shot themselves) for allowing their pet to roam around unleashed and unsupervised.

2) Chasing a dog several blocks is NOT a justifiable act unless there are witnesses claiming the dog has been threatening. The cop should have called animal control to collect the dog instead of trying to get the dog to come to him.

To cops, dogs are substitutes for what they want to do to us.

Any cop that kills one of my dogs is going to die, plain and simple. Might not be the day the dog dies, might not be this week, month, or year; but I will kill a cop that does that.

Well, you know, pigs and dogs hardly ever get along. :-)

I knew a Lab who lived with people so much, it took on the habit of smiling by showing her teeth. On another note, Law enforcement states a police dog is a police officer and shooting THEIR dogs is a high crime! However a policyman can shoot your dog and it's justified. Police, lawyers and judges better start rethinking their attitude toward the public or retirement will NOT be a option for them.

I'm waiting for Barry to go on TV and say: "Well, if I had another dog, it would look a lot like that!"

It's the fact that not only did this officer chase the dog but he even admitted to trespassing on private property.
No warrant = no legal right to be there = trespasser = legal for me to cap his ass when he turns towards me with a gun.

It is because these limp dicked clowns in a costume and a plastic badge desperately need to enforce their supposed authority. The fact that they receive immunity is ludicrous. If the police are not expected to follow the law then there is no law. The asshole described above should be in prison.

@ Derfel.... "If the police are not expected to follow the law then there is no law."

I'm using that. Giving you credit, of course.
