Praxis: Sportsman's Guide has Australian 7.62 NATO bandoleers for forty five cents each!

As we have a large reloading project scheduled for when he comes back to CONUS, my son Matt sent me 90 of these from Sportsman's Guide today. SG has them listed as "Austrian" but they are in fact Vietnam-era Australian bandos.
These are excellent bandoleers, much sturdier than the USGI thin ones, although they only have five pockets and not six (thus hold 50 rounds, not 60), but the snaps are very useful in retaining the ammo until you are ready to use it. The combination of the thicker material and the snaps make the whole array quieter, even without cardboards. At $.45 each plus shipping for a pack of 30 they are a steal. They should also fit Garand clips, but I haven't taken the time to try them yet. Quantities are limited. Get them while you can.

Can you fit 2 SKS stripper clips in each pocket?

Thanks

These are great bandos ... I ordered 25 of them a couple of years ago from another place and I like them. I actually put 20 rounds in 5 round strippers in each pocket, increasing them to 100 rounds and they are sturdy enough to handle it easily. I am ordering some more right now!

Causa Patet: No. In fact the closer I look at them, I doubt they are long enough to do a Grand clip. For the SKS you want some 7 pocket USGI Vietnam-era M16 bandos with cardboard boxes scrounged at the range for silent sleeves.

Of course I meant Garand not Grand.

Thanks Mike. I have the Chinese bando which limits to 2 hundred rounds, so a over the shoulder bando addition means I can carry more ammo if it comes to relying on my SKS other than...

I ordered up 120, they will make nice Stocking Stuffers for the good little boys and girls out there this year.

Thanks for the lead,

I have also purchased these from S.G., Just this afternoon filled 10 of them with Garand clips! They fit perfectly. Just ordered more clips to finish off putting the rest of 30.06 surplus from CMP in these great bandoliers.

From my experience, I don't like anything that swings when you run. And anything you throw over your shoulder will do that and it WILL bother you and interfere with what you are trying to accomplish.

If it doesn't hold close to your body, it will be a problem eventually. I like a lot of ammo, so I always use a belt with suspenders. It doesn't flap around when you are running and isn't in the way when you aren't. It also keeps the center of gravity lower, which helps you keep your balance.

Get this shit if you want it, but I wouldn't take it for free.

Just my 2 cents.

As Raeco says, each pocket will accept one Garand en bloc clip. If anyone is interested, each pocket will also accept two Carcano six-round clips. (They are NOT stripper clips, as some ads say.)
Also, each pocket will securely hold three 12-gauge shotgun shells. And because of the sturdy belt-and-ring carrying system, it can be tightened up or even worn as a belt so it doesn't swing.

Glad I got my order in on Sat., already shipped out. Tough luck for you late comers though!
These will hold 5 12 ga. shells per pocket, I already have some full.

WarriorClass, what's not to like about bandos? I also do not like shit banging around, that doesn't mean I have to drape them all over me. They work just fine holding ammo in the back seat or on a hook on the wall.
My buddy got back from Baghdad last year, he said every vehicle has the 3 pocket Molle bandoliers hanging from the back of a seatrest. When you dismount, the driver can throw extra mags to you, 6 at a time, in a bandolier!

Amazon has 4"x7" military field dressings in 72-packs for $99.99 - works out to $1.33 per dressing.

I know this is a bit of an older post BUT, I just recived my order of these bandoleers and found that they hold 5 8 Rd M-1 Clips with perfection! All brand new and VERY nice! Get 'em while you can! They are far better then the USGI ones.

Cruachan!
